It’s the unveiling of Mexico’s new wave as adidas move aside the green and produce their stunning 2019 Mexico TRI home kit ahead of the Gold Cup in the USA this summer.

During the Mexico ’86 World Cup, the official match ball was named ‘Aztec’ and that’s the clear inspiration here as adidas incorporate those features into the design on the new home shirt for 2019.

Have a closer look at the details and you’ll spot the cryptic stitching woven into the front panel of the jersey. Nice touch. You may be thinking that Mexico usually don the colour green and you’d be right.

The national colours haven’t been fully abandoned by adidas though as they’ve paid homage to the flag with the red, white and green trim added to the sleeve cuff. It’s also worth mentioning the badge, as a black background has been added to fit the colour scheme of the shirt and, with that white trim around it, it certainly pops.

You can first see this shirt worn on March 22 when they face Chile in friendly. It’ll then be on the big stage during the 2019 CONCACAF Gold Cup in America as Mexico won’t be featuring in the Copa America this year.

The Mexico 2019 home shirt drops alongside the Colombia 2019 home shirt and Argentina 2019 home shirt, as adidas get their American contingent set for a summer of football.
