Hot on the heels of last week’s big Copa 19 reveal, adidas today unveil the full Initiator Pack lineup, featuring a diverse range of new colourways for the Predator, X, Nemeziz, and Nemeziz Messi. It’s another debut too: the Pred featured here is the new Predator 19, which boasts a few nice additions over the 18. Scroll down for the key details on all five boots.

First up, let’s get into that new Predator. Making its first appearance in a dominant red and black colour scheme, the Predator 19+ takes inspiration from various Predators of the past for an updated, more aggressive look.

On both sides of the boot, the modern equivalent of previous Predators’ fins – now a subtle ridged design – are coloured in black, making them more prominent and reminding us of the silo’s unrivalled ball-striking potential. There’s also a new heel cap, clearly a reference to the original Predator with its sharp lines. Minor changes, maybe, but they do make a noticeable difference to the look of the boot, and it’ll be interesting to see what adidas do with further colourways.

Moving on, we’ve got the X, which is decked out in a striking Core Black/White/Active Red colourway. The 18+’s super-responsive Skeletalweave upper in particular suits the black and red combo, producing an eye-catching textured effect. Continuing the skeletal theme, the rear half of the X’s soleplate is a bony white, providing a nice point of contrast against the dominant black and red. Expect to see Mo Salah and co leaving the opposition for dead in these.
Next, the Nemeziz, which switches things up slightly with a chiefly white upper and red soleplate. We say chiefly – the end section of the boot, both upper and soleplate, has been doused in black with a cool smoke-like gradient effect. Specks of black are also weaved into the upper’s 360 AGILITY BANDAGE, which is a neat take on the boot’s inspiration of boxing hand wraps. Quality soleplate execution too: the combination of chrome effect and two-tone colour scheme on the 18+ is a thing of beauty.

If you haven’t seen the Initiator Pack Copa 19 until now, where have you been? Revealed last week, the revolutionary redesign of adidas’s classic boot begins a new era for the Copa – one that’ll be led by Juventus and Argentina star Paulo Dybala. It’s the laceless leather upper that’s the big story here – check out our launch post for more on that – but colourway-wise, it’s a much subtler affair than the other boots in the pack. The upper’s red three stripes and “COPA” lettering add hits of colour, but the off-white K-leather dominates, conjuring up memories of the much-loved Champagne Pred as it transitions into a two-tone Primeknit collar.

We like the creative, three-way mix-and-match colour schemes adidas have pulled off here. It’s nice to see a bit of variation between colourways within the same pack, all the while maintaining a distinct visual identity for the range as a whole. Whichever combination of red, black or white (or blue!) you prefer, there’s something for everyone here.
