adidas Initiator Pack
First up, let’s get into that new Predator. Making its first appearance in a dominant red and black colour scheme, the Predator 19+ takes inspiration from various Predators of the past for an updated, more aggressive look.
On both sides of the boot, the modern equivalent of previous Predators’ fins – now a subtle ridged design – are coloured in black, making them more prominent and reminding us of the silo’s unrivalled ball-striking potential. There’s also a new heel cap, clearly a reference to the original Predator with its sharp lines. Minor changes, maybe, but they do make a noticeable difference to the look of the boot, and it’ll be interesting to see what adidas do with further colourways.
If you haven’t seen the Initiator Pack Copa 19 until now, where have you been? Revealed last week, the revolutionary redesign of adidas’s classic boot begins a new era for the Copa – one that’ll be led by Juventus and Argentina star Paulo Dybala. It’s the laceless leather upper that’s the big story here – check out our launch post for more on that – but colourway-wise, it’s a much subtler affair than the other boots in the pack. The upper’s red three stripes and “COPA” lettering add hits of colour, but the off-white K-leather dominates, conjuring up memories of the much-loved Champagne Pred as it transitions into a two-tone Primeknit collar.
We like the creative, three-way mix-and-match colour schemes adidas have pulled off here. It’s nice to see a bit of variation between colourways within the same pack, all the while maintaining a distinct visual identity for the range as a whole. Whichever combination of red, black or white (or blue!) you prefer, there’s something for everyone here.
