Returning to a flurry of perfectly executed dabs, the adidas x Paul Pogba Collection is back for Season 4. This time it’s a contrasting affair, as the Core Black/Olive colourway spans both an on and off pitch look. Followers of Pogba will already know the World Cup winner always wants to stand out on pitch by his style of play and by the shoes he wears. Season 4 is no different, with the bright fade designed three stripes and chromed-up outsole contrasting with the muted upper for a military-inspired look.

As before we’ve got firm ground and trainer styles, for us it’s the latter that’s the star of the show. The green-brown texturing effect is naturally suited to the shoe’s Primeknit upper, transitioning subtly into black for an artistic two-tone look. Look a bit deeper and catch a view of the boots from above and you'll be able to identify the pattern that visualises a soundwave running across the upper, a symbolic visual added to show Paul's love of  music.

Unlike like last season’s Pogba Predator trainer, the Season 4 street shoe features a fully laced design, giving you the customisable fit that’s so important in casual footwear. Sitting on the Predator 18.1 Tango TR silhouette it also gives adidas the opportunity to add just the slightest hint of bling to the shoe with a gold band on the bottom lace – kind of a prerequisite on a Pogba shoe.

Elsewhere, the bright orange three stripes of the firm ground Predator 18+ football boots are switched out for pure black. It’s a much smarter, more street-friendly look, and is another indication that adidas are learning to differentiate their street offerings from their on-pitch gear. There’s still a little bit of orange in the form of Predator-styled “POGBA” branding on the heel pull tab, but it’s thoughtfully placed on the inside as a subtle pop of colour, rather than on the outside where it could take over the design

The Manchester United star’s “PP” logo adorns the front of the collar and the heel, but in both instances it’s a simple black-on-black execution, as opposed to the orange seen on the boots. Further down, the Boost midsole from Season 3 remains, but this time it’s paired with the iced-up translucent outsole seen previously on the Shadow Mode Predator Tango 18+ trainer.

Here though the see-through effect isn’t just aesthetic – it also gives heightened visibility to the “POGBA” lettering that runs along the underside of the midsole, another nice new touch that really makes this feel like a signature edition sneaker.

We love the way adidas are developing the Paul Pogba brand. They’re clearly paying attention to feedback judging by the improvements made over the four seasons so far, and this season’s casual trainer in particular is far and away the best execution of a Pogba shoe to date – be quick if you’re looking to grab a pair as once again the Pogba Season 4 releases fall under adidas' Limited Collection branding.
