adidas Predator Archive Mutator
Showcasing a crazy design in collaboration with @thepredatorpro and @thepredcollective, this drop is for the Predator purists out there. The Three Stripes have just unveiled a mash-up boot that features an avalanche of colour that’s dripping in Predator heritage to pay tribute to 26 years of the game’s apex boot.
Let’s start by breaking down exactly what we’re seeing on this boot that adidas are calling the Predator Archive. There’s a lot to take in.
Following the incredible Mania remake, the Predator gets another makeover with a blend of more recent boots, from the 2004 Pulse onwards. Those arched, narrow three stripes on the outside of the right boot rep the Absolute, as does the metallic element rising from the soleplate, but the outer stripes are giving us strong Pulse flashbacks.
The rest of the boot? Well that all looks to be new stuff and a potential sign of what adidas could be planning next. There’s a different design on the left boot which, by our count, sees three historic Predators combine.
The most notable homage on this foot is the references to 2008’s PowerSwerve in the instep and forefoot area. That strike zone stands out a mile and the reversed three stripes take us back to memories of Xavi running the show for Spain as they triumphed at Euro 2008.
A subtle graphic at the toe shouts out 2012’s Lethal Zones’ styling and the Predator X’s Three Stripes are represented on the outside of the boot, just below the laces.
There’s an accompanying trainer to go with this limited edition boot which have the same style but with a cushioned and responsive Boost midsole for comfort on the go.
Make no mistake, these boots are a Predator fan’s dream and they are, of course, available from the proud home of the world’s largest bootroom at prodirectsoccer.com NOW.
