Concave Release New Halo+ Black/Gun Metal
Concave’s resident power-focused silo has undergone an almost complete redesign. Gone is the bulky midfoot strike element, having been replaced by an all-new, far more streamlined AccuStrike Railing System. The new design guides the ball in its trajectory in addition to adding power, also increasing the size of the sweetspot in a similar fashion to Nike’s Phantom VNM – but without the offset laces. There aren’t many boots that achieve such an effect while maintaining a traditional lace setup, so it’s hats off to Concave on that front if you prefer to keep things central.
The upper has seen some significant improvements too, chiefly the addition of what Concave call their “engineered maze”, which consists of a special type of mesh fused with a textured synthetic. The result is a superior combination of grip and feel, especially in the targeted control areas with raised surfaces.
Purists will be pleased to learn that the new boot’s also available in an A-grade kangaroo leather edition (pictured below), with both versions featuring a neoprene inner for superior comfort. It’s night and day compared to the previous generation, which, let’s be honest, was a little bit retro in the ankle area. A good collar – even a really small one – makes a big difference to the overall comfort of a boot. Not easy to execute on a leather boot either; Concave have come a long way as far as construction is concerned.
The boot also features a brand new soleplate design, which now boasts dual anti-torsion bars and a hybrid stud configuration. On this black edition it’s done out in stunning Gun Metal chrome, adding some additional bling to the Halo’s sleek new look. As far as we’re concerned, there’s never been a better time to join the Cave Gang.
