Nike Victory Pack
The boots are decked out in a predominantly grey colour scheme, accompanied by black Swooshes with the “Hyper Crimson” trim that seems to be popular with Nike’s designers at the moment. The Tiempo and the Mercurial are probably the pick of the bunch here, with the “wings” neatly fitting into the leather join at the midfoot on the former, and subtly blending into the heel of the latter. This is another limited release, with only Elite and Academy-level boots set to be available, and given they’re designed for hot summer pitches, soleplate-wise we’d expect it to be FG all the way.
Though they’re being launched to mark the Women’s World Cup, we've got a feeling plenty of men will be lacing up in these too. It’s a bumper summer in terms of tournaments, don’t forget, with the Women’s World Cup and the Copa America being joined by the first ever mid-year African Cup of Nations. Nike will be well represented in each competition, and the boots are bound to produce a few standout moments as the likes of Toni Duggan, Philippe Coutinho, and Riyad Mahrez strive to do justice to the Victory name.
If you haven’t clocked it yet, in Greek mythology Nike is the goddess of victory – she’s the inspiration for the Nike brand name itself – which gives the pack some added significance. What could be more prestigious than a colourway that sums up the entire ethos of the company? When you think about it like that, it’s no surprise that they’re being given such a big build-up, and the boots won’t be released until May, so you’ve got a good couple of months yet to get excited about them.
