Nike drop incredible Future DNA "Hypervenom" remake
This one’s a little bit special. Mashing up a genuine legend with Nike’s newest creation, the Future DNA Phantom VSN II offers up a treat for boot fans with a genius OG Hypervenom face lift.
That’s right, The Swoosh have taken the bold design of the debut Hypervenom and painted it onto the VSN II. It sounds crazy, and it is a bit, but as you can see the end product is magnificent.
The first Hypervenom, designed for Neymar Jnr, made a splash when it landed seven-years ago with that crazy orange and black upper, complete with skull and crossbones as a lethal warning to defenders.
Created to deliver elite touch and control, the first gen Hypervenom delivered on pitch and paved the way for the VSN II to rewrite the rules of precision in 2020.It’s a fitting tribute and a clever mash up which captures the spirit of both boots.
One thing we particularly love is how the angle of the Swoosh at the heel perfectly fits the lines of the VSN II, dipping towards the base of the foot. Such a nice touch.
The Future DNA version of the VSN II features all the same game-breaking tech of the current gen of boots with that modern soleplate, All Conditions Control and the Ghost Lace system so you can rep some classic style with confidence that you’re wearing a world-class boot fit for the demands of today’s game.
The VSN II’s targeted texture on the upper also bears a striking resemblance to the Hypervenom’s 3D textured upper that saw The Swoosh debut their NikeSkin material which is still used on the current Phantom VSN.
It’s a brilliant creation and one that we hope we see more of from The Swoosh soon.
adidas have been leading the way with their recent Predator Mania recreations which were as popular at Pro:Direct HQ as they were with ballers across the globe, with the likes of Dele Alli and Harry Winks wearing them on pitch.
This is slightly different from Nike, though, with the design being grafted onto a modern boot, rather than the whole upper having a retro remake like the Manias.
Of course, you can cop the Nike Future DNA Phantom VSN II from the home of the world’s largest bootroom at Pro:Direct Soccer right now but these won’t hang around for long so get a move on.
