There’s no “magic of the FA Cup” without a ball, and this year it’s Mitre who have been given the honour of producing a bespoke design for the world’s most prestigious cup competition.

Naturally they’ve chosen their top-of-the-line ball to form the base, which is the new Delta Max, complete with its unique, distinctly triangular 14-panel configuration and FIFA Pro Quality accreditation. In terms of tech, it boasts Hyperseam technology where panels join for hugely reduced water uptake, along with a 4.5mm layer of dual hyper-foam that makes sure all the power of your shot is translated into speed on the ball. It also features embossed surfaces that manipulate airflow around the ball while it’s in flight. In short, it’s a hype ball, and we’re expecting a fair few screamers to be scored with it on the way to Wembley.

Looks-wise, Mitre have really gone the extra mile with the FA Cup edition of the Delta Max, which isn’t something we’ve always been able to say about other brands in the past. This year’s ball has been decked out in a ribbon-based design, with red and silver elements streaming out from FA Cup graphics and the iconic Mitre arrows. It’s a sterling effort from the traditional British ball maker – clearly they’re determined to make the most of their new three-year partnership with the FA.

The official Mitre Delta Max FA Cup Ball will make its debut in the first round of the Emirates FA Cup this weekend, and is available to buy now at
