It's back. The legendary Merlin name returns to the official Premier League ball primed for the 2018/19 season, bringing a host of innovations and that all important aerodynamic round-ness that gives the goalkeepers union sleepless nights. This is the Nike Premer League Merlin football.

The big talking point here is that this is a ball made up of just four panels. Why should you care? Less panels means less stitching. Less stitching means less hard spots, more sweet spots, more clean striking opportunities. Also, for the first time, Nike has given the Merlin an All Conditions Control (ACC) technology coating to provide optimal touch and control in all weather and pitch conditions. So yes, this is a ball that can do it on a wet Tuesday night in Stoke.
Well, apart from Stoke not being in the Premier League this season. But you get our point.

Looks-wise, Mitre have really gone the extra mile with the FA Cup edition of the Delta Max, which isn’t something we’ve always been able to say about other brands in the past. This year’s ball has been decked out in a ribbon-based design, with red and silver elements streaming out from FA Cup graphics and the iconic Mitre arrows. It’s a sterling effort from the traditional British ball maker – clearly they’re determined to make the most of their new three-year partnership with the FA.

The official Mitre Delta Max FA Cup Ball will make its debut in the first round of the Emirates FA Cup this weekend, and is available to buy now at
