An informal gathering in a convenient public space, you say? Go on then. Today adidas kick-start the street party season with the release of the new Celebration Pack, a collection of casual-but-classy looks for the Predator 19+ trainer.

There are three colourways to choose from: black, grey, or white. Using such simple terms to describe the colours on offer here is doing them a disservice though – in actual fact, the three trainers feature one of most complex designs we’ve seen in ages in terms of palette.

Each shoe boasts a multi-coloured knitted upper that harks back to the original Samba Primeknit that Luis Suarez wore in 2014, running from front to back in a fairly smooth gradient. As with the boot, it’s difficult to appreciate just how cool this effect is without seeing them in the flesh, but, take our word for it, on a trainer it looks absolutely superb.

It’s the accent colours that make the difference here though, as adidas take an asymmetrical approach that marks the Celebration Pack out from the crowd. In short, each colourway switches things up between left and right. On the grey colourway, for example, the left shoe features a blue inside collar, a blue stretch reveal across the midfoot and outside collar, and a blue outsole support. The right shoe, meanwhile, has all those details in yellow. Both left and right shoes do though feature the same red insole.

Even better, each individual colourway has been given its own unique colour combination. The black pair is red accents on the left, blue on the right, with yellow insoles on both; the white pair is yellow accents on the left, red on the right, with blue insoles. It’s a great idea, and is certainly in keeping with the celebratory vibe of the pack – diversity is the name of the game here.

Being a knitted shoe, the Predator 19+ is also effortlessly comfortable, and is relatively forgiving for those of us with wide feet. Boost foam in the midsole ensures a smooth ride as you stroll around your city, and icy outsoles give a distinct summer look to the designs – particularly the white and grey ones where it’s almost transparent.

There’s something about the shoes in the Celebration Pack. The more we look at them, the more they draw us in. Anyone you meet is going to be similarly intrigued, and that’s why we can see these vibrant editions of the Predator 19+ being the talk of the town this summer.
