Nike Air Jordan V Retro x Paris Saint Germain
Take, for example, the semi-obscured “PARIS” Jumpman branding that adorns the midfoot vent section (a collab co-branding fan favourite application), the pristine PSG x Jordan logo on the heel in place of the original's Nike AIR decal and the “23” on the heel panel has been replaced by a “75”, a subtle nod to the postal code of Paris and its' fashionable inhabitants.
Designed by the great Tinker Hatfield, the original Air Jordan V evolved from it's predecessor with some added bite. Often referred to as shark teeth, those speckled jagged additions to the sole were actually intended to represent Michael Jordan's dogfight-like flight in game and his biting style. Hatfield's iconic design took inspiration from American WWII fighter planes to deliver this homage to Jordan's on court play.Other modifications to this PSG edition include the transparent outsole that was so popular on the original design receiving a barely-noticeable Jordan hallmark with an icy-blue application this time around - arguably a much better execution than the original and certainly less yellow than your deadstock OG pair will be now. The transparent look means you can see right through to an oversized PSG x Jumpman logo that sits underneath the midsole. It’s a clever implementation, creating a subtle shimmering effect in combination with the tread pattern.
