Holland's 'One to Watch' Lieke Martens
Currently plying her trade in the Primera Division in Spain for Barcelona, her midfield dynamism is renowned around the world for creativity and goalscoring exploits. At the age of 26 Martens is in her prime and after playing the majority of her football in her native land she’s made a bigger name for herself for Barcelona and International football. Martens surpassed 100 caps for Holland last year and scoring 42 goals from midfield shows off her talent.
Holland’s best World Cup campaign in their history is reaching the Round of 16 in 2015 during the tournament in Canada. Martens and the rest of the Dutch girls will now go a few steps further.
Nike have been a huge promoter and designer of International shirts over the past decades. They’ve created a stunning, clean and current shirt to match Martens’ ambition to lead the Lionesses to glory. Now, onto what Martens will be wearing on her feet and the colours she’ll be donning this summer in France…
The Holland Home Kit: Labelled by Nike as ‘Audacious Grace’. Honouring the audacious mentality of the regining European Champions and highlighting the team’s on-pitch persona of ‘Lionesses’ – Fearless, Predatory and above all, graceful. A truly unique kit for the Dutch women features a head to toe graphic that is a moder, geometric interpretation of the country’s native tulip.
To create moments of magic on the field Martens will be wearing the Mercurial Superfly from Nike’s Victory Pack. Fast by nature, the Nike Mercurial Superfly VI Elite boots provide a 360-degree fit for speed on firm natural ground surfaces.
